blog post planner. free download.

IMG_5578I have tried a lot of different post planners in my years as a blogger. Some work well for me, some don’t. I think it all depends on lifestle really, and whether someone is more paper-oriented (me) or technology-oriented (semi-me). I try to make myself put more use into apps on my phone so that I can have everything available at all times, but it never lasts long. I am always making to-do lists and blog ideas on scraps of paper or Post-It notes.

IMG_5577I designed this one so that it will fit nicely in my large Moleskine planner without hanging out over the edges, plus I wanted a size that I could pop into my printer without cutting (one of my least favorite parts of paper projects). I bought 5×8 large index cards at my local office supply store, and adjusted my page setup in Adobe, and printed a stack in less than 5 minutes. And to save paper, I flipped them over and printed again. 2 blog posts on one piece of paper.

I always carry a few blank ones with me in my planner as well as ones that I am already working on. I take down points and links I want to include and any specific pictures that I know I will want. Easy peasy.

If you’d like to download a copy for yourself, the link is below for a PDF version.

project life update

I have been bad at documenting my Project Life this year so, haven’t I? If it wasn’t so super busy, I might be a little more caught up on here, but at the time, I am doing my best.

I still love this project, even though it can be a bit daunting to stay caught up. The two weeks per spread is still working well for that, and I have been able to incorporate versatile inserts still. Love that part.IMG_5602

My PL is mostly photo-heavy, as you can see, but I do like to add simple embellishments too. I am loving the Amy Tangerine thickers, mainly because I can make them any color I want with a little bit of nail polish. Crafty stuff, that nail polish is.IMG_5603

I did add more journaling for a few weeks though too. I love printing my journaling, rather than handwriting it. I can fit so much more.IMG_5604

I used a coin sleeve for the insert below. I cut down to a 3-row page and just stuck random things in that fit the week.IMG_5605

I managed to survive this crazybus week with nothing more thanĀ a few hours less sleep. I got my new manual chair and plan a mini-shopping excursion in KC before we headed out for Oklahoma. That Friday was a good day (besides Sean knocking himself out. That part I could have done without).IMG_5608

Insert from our weekend at Big Meats Run 2013. Love.IMG_5609

And the back of the insert.IMG_5610

This past week was supposed to be about relaxing, but it turned out to be busy too. And that’s okay. The next month of my life will probably have no no NO relaxing. At some point, I might get used to it.IMG_5611

March 20, 2013

The RSVPS are coming in! My favorite are the ones that have cute little notes written on them.

Silly me, I forgot to leave a spot for the names on the actual card, or at least make it clear that the names might be useful on the envelope. I have a bunch that are blank, so I know how many people are coming, just don’t know who. Oh well, it’ll be a surprise I suppose!
IMG_5598Even with the parade of yellow happening through this house, it is still my favorite color. And definitely the right color for our wedding. It is fantastically us.

Only 38 days to go! We are still working away, and I am about to get into crazy-craft-making mode to make sure that jars are decorated and frames are painted. And I have to order the lace for the tables. And, and, and. Still so much to do, but I am chugging through.

ideas in my head.

Lately, I’ve been feeling very motivated and inspired to design. Everything. I have sketches for stamps and cards and baby announcements (not mine!) and birthday invitations. I have ideas and colors picked out for most of them too.

I get on these spurts where my brain is so overflowing with ideas that I can hardly get them onto the blank page fast enough. They are just there.

New stamps are going to be ready in early May probably. I am not putting any more pressure on myself than I need before and immediately after our wedding. So they’ll have to wait until I am ready to get back to real life.

Most of them are summer-related and are all things that I will be using in my own Project Life. Fun.

Now, if only I can pick and choose which ones I can’t live without. That is always the hard part.

christmas cards 2012.

Christmas cards this year were easy. Easy in the sense that I knew I wanted something simple, easy, small, and us. Greg is very much like me in that he doesn’t like a whole lot of stuff going on. He trusts me with our paper projects (cards, invites, etc.), and I love him for that. So I knew he would like the same thing as me.
I designed the front in October and forced myself to wait until around Thanksgiving to print onto the 5×7 kraft paper from Paper Source. I cannot be the only one obsessed with kraft paper for just about every single thing. I love it. It’s beautiful.

I folded and used washi tape to put our Christmas picture (actually it’s a leftover picture–my favorite ever–from this summer) to the inside. The envelopes had to be red, because red screams Christmas, red is Christmas. I stamped an Amy Tangerine stamp on the back, and used green washi to close.

I love the way they turned out. Can’t wait to get them out in the mail, and into the hands of our favorite people.

p.s. These cards are also available in my Etsy shop, if you should happen to love them too!

a g&c minibook.

I have been trying to get ready for this craft show next weekend, and I’ve been envisioning what the table is going to look like and how things will be set up. It’s my first go around at something like this so it is completely a learning process.

I’ll have some of my minibook kits for sale (here the I Dream of You Daily kits are on my Etsy), and I decided to make an “example” book for potential customers. Now, online, it is easy for blog readers to search out minibooks, since anyone searching them probably already has a good idea of what to do with one. People browsing a craft show are probably not the expected target audience per say. I thought that if they saw a mini and understood just what you can do with it, how anyone can take a simple kit and make it their own completely, would help in the process.

Here are a few snaps of mine. I may add some more journaling and simple embellishments, but I want to keep it easy for people to look at get other ideas also. Some of my pictures are sideways (I love a mixture for some reason) and some of my pages are very plain. It all works together.

November 6, 2012

I’ve never done a craft show before. Not that the thought hasn’t crossed my mind many time, but I never really got enough umph to actually do it. But Sandra and I have decided to go ahead and participate in Berryton’s craft show. Since that is where we’ll be residing soon and our kids will eventually go to school, I like the idea of getting to know the community and the people. December 8!

I’ll be selling my cards, stamps, and small mini books. I have been printing, folding, assembling and visualizing how I want things to look. It’s getting closer, and I am almost positive I’ll be ready far ahead of time. Exciting.

Sandra will be selling her crochet goods. Super cute hats, baby booties, and baby cocoon outfits. Check them out on her Etsy shop, Five Kids and a Cow. So cute.

Looking forward to the fun.

more new cards.

Now in the Etsy shop.

October 4, 2012

new cards too!

I am on a roll with these new listings, right?! I found whatever motivation I had been missing and put it into designing and posting the past week or so. It feels good to be creative again after a little bit of a inspiration dry spell.

I am going to blame the burst of inspiration on the warm tea and crisp leaves that come with the beginning of fall. I so love this weather.

These cute little cards are available now in the shop.

October 2, 2012

new stamps!

There are 2 new stamps listed in my Etsy shop right now.

Simplicity is key for me in stamps. I love simple and bold words.

I hope you do too!

Go get ’em!

August 22, 2012

stamps for sale.

In case everybody didn’t hear or see on some other site, stamps are for sale at my Etsy shop!

Go over and get one (or four)!

August 20, 2012

So I mentioned I am slightly obsessed with designing my own stamps, right? I love it. I love having stamps that nobody else has, anywhere.

A lot of small shops have been popping up lately with stamps designed by some of the most creative and stamp-savvy women I know. They are inspiring, and they make beautiful stuff.

Check out:
Elise Blaha Cripe
Amanda Rose
Kelly Purkey
Ann Marie

I’m probably missing some (feel free to put links in comments if you want), but those 4 are the biggest ones I’ve seen recently.

My own are not for sale, but the thought has crossed my mind. We’ll see if anyone shows interest. Otherwise, I’ll just stick to designing for myself. And that’s okay with me. :)

project life: week 27

Oh, week 27 was busy. Family from all over came for the 4th so I have far more pictures than I can possibly put into this spread (or 10 inserts for that matter).

I tried to keep it simple, as usual, but I am also getting away from the “this week” card I was journaling on for a while in a 4×6 pocket. It took away from the picture aspect, I think. So I am doing more small 3×4 pockets for journaling. It keeps things a bit more balanced.

Next week, I’ll have an insert, I’m sure, since we’ll be heading to Table Rock Lake again with Grant and Shannon. Let’s hope for sunny days and good camera batteries.

July 2, 2012

here we are already.

June brought the heat, but definitely not enough rain. It brought many laughs and good times and an engagement (Congrats Lindsay and Todd!). But July is here, and summer is in full swing. There is a lot of talk of boats, sunburns, humidity, and scorching 100 degree afternoons.

I managed to get most of my goals met for June, but there always seems to be some straggling goals leftover somewhere, spilling out for another month. I need to learn to look at the small things that make a whole goal and go for those, I guess. Simplicity.

July goals:
– blog 3x per week. I’ve been sporadic at times lately.
– make a first draft of guest list
– get trailer off land (there’s the straggler goal)
– finish a book. Chuck Palahniuk’s Lullaby is the main one I’m reading right now.
– catch up on me time. A day to myself.
– make Etsy a priority. I need to get back to that.

June 28, 2012

etsy update.

I have completely neglected my Etsy shop in the past 6-8 months. It’s been a very busy and happy and crazy time in my life with work and love. Who knew being happy could consume so much time?

Anyway, I have relisted some extra cards I have sitting around and am currently designing new ones, simple ones, ones that say what sometimes not easily said out loud. Bo looking for those soon.

Until then, spread the word.

June 14, 2012

this is me, today.

May 16, 2012

May 1, 2012

onto the next.

Life has been crazy. Inspiration has been lacking. Work has been stressful and tiring and beyond frustrating.

But things are looking up. Just when I was every seriously weighing quitting my job and finding something else to do with my time, something happier, I got an email that someone had ordered a card from my Etsy shop. I haven’t had anything new up for months, and I wasn’t going to renew any of the listings when they had expired. It was just something else that I didn’t want to stress about. But that email and packaging up the sold card tonight kickstarted a little bit of motivation.

I am going to relist cards to hopefully purge my stash and start on something new. Exactly what that will be, I don’t know yet, but it will be something. Greg will be in St. Louis quite a lot so I’ll need something new to occupy my mind anyway.

Here we go.

just a reminder.

December 5, 2011

christmas cards, part 1.

Lots of glitter and love.

I kept with my annual “handmade” Christmas card tradition this year. Not that it is a huge surprise, especially since I haven’t had much creative outlet lately otherwise. I always like something that is out of the ordinary, and simple. The simpler, the better imo. People remember extravagant, but they remember simple too.

I know some people find glitter gaudy and overused and a big ol’ pain-in-the-butt, but I found pretty glitter that fit perfectly with the stamp I wanted. Phase one (glue/glitter/stamp) only took one afternoon, which mostly was waiting for the glue to dry.

Next phase? Envelopes! Keep your eyes peeled. :)
(excuse the horrible lighting on the pics. I didn’t have time to lighten!)

October 27, 2011

Sometimes you just need a reminder that life isn’t so bad after all.

It could always be worse, people. Really, it could.

Have a good Thursday!
