blog post planner. free download.

IMG_5578I have tried a lot of different post planners in my years as a blogger. Some work well for me, some don’t. I think it all depends on lifestle really, and whether someone is more paper-oriented (me) or technology-oriented (semi-me). I try to make myself put more use into apps on my phone so that I can have everything available at all times, but it never lasts long. I am always making to-do lists and blog ideas on scraps of paper or Post-It notes.

IMG_5577I designed this one so that it will fit nicely in my large Moleskine planner without hanging out over the edges, plus I wanted a size that I could pop into my printer without cutting (one of my least favorite parts of paper projects). I bought 5×8 large index cards at my local office supply store, and adjusted my page setup in Adobe, and printed a stack in less than 5 minutes. And to save paper, I flipped them over and printed again. 2 blog posts on one piece of paper.

I always carry a few blank ones with me in my planner as well as ones that I am already working on. I take down points and links I want to include and any specific pictures that I know I will want. Easy peasy.

If you’d like to download a copy for yourself, the link is below for a PDF version.

project life update

I have been bad at documenting my Project Life this year so, haven’t I? If it wasn’t so super busy, I might be a little more caught up on here, but at the time, I am doing my best.

I still love this project, even though it can be a bit daunting to stay caught up. The two weeks per spread is still working well for that, and I have been able to incorporate versatile inserts still. Love that part.IMG_5602

My PL is mostly photo-heavy, as you can see, but I do like to add simple embellishments too. I am loving the Amy Tangerine thickers, mainly because I can make them any color I want with a little bit of nail polish. Crafty stuff, that nail polish is.IMG_5603

I did add more journaling for a few weeks though too. I love printing my journaling, rather than handwriting it. I can fit so much more.IMG_5604

I used a coin sleeve for the insert below. I cut down to a 3-row page and just stuck random things in that fit the week.IMG_5605

I managed to survive this crazybus week with nothing more thanĀ a few hours less sleep. I got my new manual chair and plan a mini-shopping excursion in KC before we headed out for Oklahoma. That Friday was a good day (besides Sean knocking himself out. That part I could have done without).IMG_5608

Insert from our weekend at Big Meats Run 2013. Love.IMG_5609

And the back of the insert.IMG_5610

This past week was supposed to be about relaxing, but it turned out to be busy too. And that’s okay. The next month of my life will probably have no no NO relaxing. At some point, I might get used to it.IMG_5611

december daily

decdailyThis is a fun book. Quick and easy, and I really like that I want it to be messy. I see so many beautiful DD books online, and I just can’t do that. Mine needs to be messy, and the pictures need to be a little bit crooked to truly be ME.

For as much as I like simplicity and organization, it doesn’t make much sense, I know.

My only problem with the daily thing is that my days are quite a lot the same, especially during the week. I go to work, come home, and mess around til its time for me to crash. I’m so boring. Trying to find the one thing in the everyday that is different is going to be my challenge.

christmas cards 2012.

Christmas cards this year were easy. Easy in the sense that I knew I wanted something simple, easy, small, and us. Greg is very much like me in that he doesn’t like a whole lot of stuff going on. He trusts me with our paper projects (cards, invites, etc.), and I love him for that. So I knew he would like the same thing as me.
IMG_4288a
I designed the front in October and forced myself to wait until around Thanksgiving to print onto the 5×7 kraft paper from Paper Source. I cannot be the only one obsessed with kraft paper for just about every single thing. I love it. It’s beautiful.

I folded and used washi tape to put our Christmas picture (actually it’s a leftover picture–my favorite ever–from this summer) to the inside. The envelopes had to be red, because red screams Christmas, red is Christmas. I stamped an Amy Tangerine stamp on the back, and used green washi to close.

I love the way they turned out. Can’t wait to get them out in the mail, and into the hands of our favorite people.

p.s. These cards are also available in my Etsy shop, if you should happen to love them too!

a g&c minibook.

I have been trying to get ready for this craft show next weekend, and I’ve been envisioning what the table is going to look like and how things will be set up. It’s my first go around at something like this so it is completely a learning process.

I’ll have some of my minibook kits for sale (here the I Dream of You Daily kits are on my Etsy), and I decided to make an “example” book for potential customers. Now, online, it is easy for blog readers to search out minibooks, since anyone searching them probably already has a good idea of what to do with one. People browsing a craft show are probably not the expected target audience per say. I thought that if they saw a mini and understood just what you can do with it, how anyone can take a simple kit and make it their own completely, would help in the process.

Here are a few snaps of mine. I may add some more journaling and simple embellishments, but I want to keep it easy for people to look at get other ideas also. Some of my pictures are sideways (I love a mixture for some reason) and some of my pages are very plain. It all works together.

project life: week 42

So much was down this week. That to-do list managed to dwindle down, and I could not be happier.

Only 10 weeks left to document in this year!

October 22, 2012

today i am.

+ having the ramp on the van serviced before winter.
+ eating donuts and drinking coffee.
+ blogging (not a surprise).
+ editing pictures from yesterday’s shoot.
+ journaling. My Moleskine misses me.
+ picking up invite supplies.
+ enjoying ME time.
+ dusting off my camera.
+ making more to-do lists for the wedding.
+ forgetting stress that suffocated me last week.

October 21, 2012

life in squares.

1. This kid is crazy. Tattoos on her face, arms, belly. She had a good time at Aunt Arlene’s birthday party, that’s for sure.

2. Fall is here. Beautiful trees, the smell of dry, dusty leaves, and orange pumpkins everywhere. I love it.

3. I am finishing Blog, Inc by Joy Cho. Such a good informative book.

4. Christmas cards are designed, and I am impatient to start printing and assembling them. Just a tad early, I know.

project life: week 40

It was mostly a busy week. Staying late at work and sending Etsy orders and trying to make to-do lists that are do-able then feeling like crud all weekend. I managed to get this week printed and updated on late Sunday though.

Project Life is still going strong around here.

(I really wish I had a new picture of Greg and I to put in this week, but I suppose that’s a goal for next week.)

October 4, 2012

new cards too!

I am on a roll with these new listings, right?! I found whatever motivation I had been missing and put it into designing and posting the past week or so. It feels good to be creative again after a little bit of a inspiration dry spell.

I am going to blame the burst of inspiration on the warm tea and crisp leaves that come with the beginning of fall. I so love this weather.

These cute little cards are available now in the shop.

August 22, 2012

stamps for sale.

In case everybody didn’t hear or see on some other site, stamps are for sale at my Etsy shop!

Go over and get one (or four)!

August 20, 2012

newness.

So I mentioned I am slightly obsessed with designing my own stamps, right? I love it. I love having stamps that nobody else has, anywhere.

A lot of small shops have been popping up lately with stamps designed by some of the most creative and stamp-savvy women I know. They are inspiring, and they make beautiful stuff.

Check out:
Elise Blaha Cripe
Amanda Rose
Kelly Purkey
Ann Marie

I’m probably missing some (feel free to put links in comments if you want), but those 4 are the biggest ones I’ve seen recently.

My own are not for sale, but the thought has crossed my mind. We’ll see if anyone shows interest. Otherwise, I’ll just stick to designing for myself. And that’s okay with me. :)

project life : week 30

I love Project Life. No lie.

It’s still so easy and fun looking at the week’s events in such a different way. A way that documents every little thing that has happened..

I’ve been using a lot of Instagram pictures, so most of my last 2-3 layouts have seemed to contain a lot of yellows and dusty filtered colors. That’s fine with me, but for next week, I am hoping to get away from that.

project life: week 27

Oh, week 27 was busy. Family from all over came for the 4th so I have far more pictures than I can possibly put into this spread (or 10 inserts for that matter).

I tried to keep it simple, as usual, but I am also getting away from the “this week” card I was journaling on for a while in a 4×6 pocket. It took away from the picture aspect, I think. So I am doing more small 3×4 pockets for journaling. It keeps things a bit more balanced.

Next week, I’ll have an insert, I’m sure, since we’ll be heading to Table Rock Lake again with Grant and Shannon. Let’s hope for sunny days and good camera batteries.

June 28, 2012

etsy update.

I have completely neglected my Etsy shop in the past 6-8 months. It’s been a very busy and happy and crazy time in my life with work and love. Who knew being happy could consume so much time?

Anyway, I have relisted some extra cards I have sitting around and am currently designing new ones, simple ones, ones that say what sometimes not easily said out loud. Bo looking for those soon.

Until then, spread the word.

June 18, 2012

this is what we did Saturday night.

So much fun. Scary fun, but fun.

May 31, 2012

project life: week 21.

This project still is fun, and for someone who gets bored easily with most things, that’s out of the ordinary for me. I still love taking pictures (that never gets boring) and pretty-ing them up. I still love the ease of documenting life in a creative way and capturing more than ever before. I don’t think there is anything that I will regret about it.

I am getting better at it too. I think about pictures I know I’ll want. I have been putting together inserts more often because I hate picking and choosing and leaving pictures out. I journal the little things I want to remember.

Week 22, here I come.

May 30, 2012

awakened.

I am writing again. Really writing. And feeling. And putting feelings onto paper.

It’s such a relief. Something in me craves the release of that kind, of being able to see it and feel it and go back to remember if I need to.

It’s like breathing for me. If I don’t write for a while, I feel stagnant, like everything is just going along and has little meaning. Like things are growing but can’t bloom.

Life is better for me with words. Words that actually say something. Words that paint a picture in a person’s mind. Each one beautifully different than the next.

I’ve got a new journal with hundreds of blank pages and a pen waiting to be drained of its ink.

May 28, 2012

long weekend.

We had an amazing weekend. On Saturday, we spent the day on the lake, wake boarding and swimming and laughing and getting some color on my pasty white legs.

Greg’s friends are so chill. I love that. I don’t know why I am nervous going into situations where I don’t know anyone because it never really matters. I am usually comfortable within the first 5 minutes. Every time.

On Sunday, Greg and I just hung out, not really doing anything too productive. But it was the best lazy-ish Sunday in a long time. We went shopping around and saw Chernobyl Diaries at Legends. Then we pretty much decided that Saturday had wiped us both out so I came home and he went back to Grant’s.

Today: I am working on Project Life and going to take my new camera (Canon 60D!) out on its first girl date with me. I had originally planned on doing Mark and Ash’s family pictures, but little Raelyn isn’t feeling too well. Poor baby girl.

Also, Happy Memorial Day to our Veterans! <3

March 22, 2012

remember.

March 8, 2012

so smooth.

I did it. I finally broke down and bought an iPhone 4s. Okay, “broke down” gives the impression that I was resistant to the idea of having one when really I drooled over the iPhone from the very beginning. Sprint just didn’t have it until recently, and my upgrade wasn’t due for months and months when it was released.

All that matters is that it is mine now. (So what if I paid a little bit extra to hurry my upgrade up by 2 months!)

Favorite thing #1: It syncs with my iPad & iMac. Life (and organization) just got a whole lot easier.

Favorite thing #2: FaceTime. Greg goes to Indianapolis for who-knows-how-long for work on Monday, and this is probably going to get a lot of use.

Favorite thing #3: Instagram. Like Twitter, with pictures. And filters. And friends. So fun. I even got Darcy into it.

Least favorite thing: I don’t want to scratch it or drop it or even touch it because it is so beautiful, I want to keep it perfect.

February 15, 2012

pink like cotton candy.

Who has the best boyfriend ever? Yes, that would be me.

I am so excited to show you what I got for Valentine’s Day…a Taurus PT738 pistol. A pink one.

Honestly, guns used to make me nervous. After Donnie’s hunting accident 11 years ago, guns weren’t even something I wanted to think about. I didn’t like them, didn’t want to be around them, and certainly never had the desire to own or shoot one.

Now, I don’t know what excites me so much. Maybe the adrenaline.

We are going to add a few little tricks to make it easier for me to pull the slide back, but other than that, I think I just have to get used to shooting such a small gun. Like with my DSLR camera, I have to make my fingers learn to do what the gun is supposed to do and train them to do it over and over. I didn’t know how I was going to handle that DSLR when I first bought it, but 4 years later, it’s second nature.

I’m sure we’ll have pictures from our first shooting session as soon as the weather warms up!

February 9, 2012

Script scarf DIY.

I’ve had this post ready for over a week, but I had to wait until after Lindsay’s birthday since it was about her present. I know she doesn’t have much time with 2 little ones to read my blog, but you never know.

I found a project on Pinterest (again, of course it came from Pinterest!) and I knew Lin would love it. In fact, Darcy and I love it too and will probably be making a few of our own.

I used lyrics from Lindsay and Todd’s song Amazed by Lonestar and wrote them out in Tee Juice onto a thin scarf I found on Amazon. It only took about 2 hours (I had a small space to work on and had to wait for the ink to dry to move the scarf) from start to finish, and the lyrics looked awesome afterwards.

She loved it just like I knew she would.

The scarf is more teal than it showed in the pictures (bad lighting!), and it just fits her.

I think a red scarf for myself is the next on my list of pretty projects.

February 5, 2012

project.

I didn’t know what to get Darcy for her birthday, so I went to Pinterest for ideas (of course.) I had seen this post of a painting a while back on the Poppytalk blog and then again on Pinterest. I knew I wanted to do something similar, only a bit more colorful and cheerful.

So that’s what I did.

I hope she likes it!
