ImageHi all,

Just a quick little note here. I have decided that with everything going on. Being married, buying a house, etc, I would start a new chapter with a new blog.

Find me here.

May 13, 2013

a green thumb.

I’ve been getting excited about moving (I really need to slow down until we sign more papers-but I can’t), and I’ve been imaging all the way we can make the front of the house (as well as the back deck) pretty and inviting. I have been trying to make sure I can keep something alive before we spend money on any plants. I mean, there’s no use if I am just going to kill them.Image

These little daisies are doing just fine though. Green and growing fast. Soon, I’ll have to transfer them into a bigger pot, but for now they are okay in this smaller pot. Seeing them grow and watching them change has me wanting to get more. Nobody can really have too many daisies, right?

project life update.

Another quick Project Life post, as I am trying to keep up. We basically went from one stressful planning event to another, buying a house. But in the end, it is going to be more than worth it. We are excited and anxious and ready for it to be ours. Personally, I am waiting for something to come up that snatches it away from us. It seems like something always trips up our big plans, right?

May 4, 2013

It has been too quiet around here, I know, but life is moving along even though I haven’t been good at keeping track of it here.

And sadly, it probably won’t change for a few weeks. Life will be busy, and this blog will be quiet.

The wedding went perfectly (even with a few imperfections) and we are blissfully married. I have a husband! My dad was able to be there, and he rocked until almost 10 o’clock. If he was tired at all, he didn’t let on. It meant a lot to Greg and I both that he was feeling well enough to be there for us.

Now, we are closing in on a home. I will talk more about it later and the decision to not build like we had planned, in a more lengthy and probably picture-heavy post, but we found one that fits us and our needs/wants. Our bid went in yesterday, and we are confident that it is going to be ours. I have already started decorating it in my head. I know that a lot of you women reading this get what I am talking about.

Hopefully things continue to go smoothly and I can be back on a more regular basis soon!

life around here.

IMG_5813aLife around here has been non-stop stress for the past two weeks. Between finding out about Dad’s cancer and work, I’m finishing up the little things for the wedding that is happening in ONE WEEK. I cannot believe it is here already. The jars have been tied with lace ribbon, and I finally picked out a pretty pale pink nail polish. The little details.

Dad is doing a little better. He started radiation on Thursday and is handling it well. No nausea (knock on wood) and no headaches. He has a better appetite, and we are pretty sure we have his pain under control. It’s still up in the air as to how things will go when he gets further into the radiation and then chemo, but we are hopeful that things will stay calm and there will be no setbacks.

If things get quiet around here for a while, don’t be alarmed. Greg will probably be going to Indianapolis sometime after our wedding for work (hail!) so I am going to soak up as many minutes with him as I can. I will be back eventually.

project life update

I have been bad at documenting my Project Life this year so, haven’t I? If it wasn’t so super busy, I might be a little more caught up on here, but at the time, I am doing my best.

I still love this project, even though it can be a bit daunting to stay caught up. The two weeks per spread is still working well for that, and I have been able to incorporate versatile inserts still. Love that part.IMG_5602

My PL is mostly photo-heavy, as you can see, but I do like to add simple embellishments too. I am loving the Amy Tangerine thickers, mainly because I can make them any color I want with a little bit of nail polish. Crafty stuff, that nail polish is.IMG_5603

I did add more journaling for a few weeks though too. I love printing my journaling, rather than handwriting it. I can fit so much more.IMG_5604

I used a coin sleeve for the insert below. I cut down to a 3-row page and just stuck random things in that fit the week.IMG_5605

I managed to survive this crazybus week with nothing more than a few hours less sleep. I got my new manual chair and plan a mini-shopping excursion in KC before we headed out for Oklahoma. That Friday was a good day (besides Sean knocking himself out. That part I could have done without).IMG_5608

Insert from our weekend at Big Meats Run 2013. Love.IMG_5609

And the back of the insert.IMG_5610

This past week was supposed to be about relaxing, but it turned out to be busy too. And that’s okay. The next month of my life will probably have no no NO relaxing. At some point, I might get used to it.IMG_5611

mnwA07zknM3bbOT4-rpxhWXJLkp9c2tZFmn1uhK2DkY[1]+ loving: that it is Friday. This week has gone much faster than last week.
+ reading: Divergent. I’m trying to find time to really get into it. It’s not working.
+ listening to: A lot of Spotify. My offline playlist is so mixed! I love it.
+ eating: Almonds. Yummy, good fat.
+ drinking: Water. I have been drinking too much Dr Pepper this week.
+ planning: A honeymoon mini book. Gray chevron pages like our envelope liners. (I seem like I live my life paper project to paper project, huh?) And a new painting for my office at work. It needs some spunk.
+ missing: my engagement ring. It’s at the jeweler’s getting sized with my band (which I am equally in love with), and I feel off balance without it.
+ enjoying: the fact that my hair feels healthy again after getting it cut. Amazing what 2 inches off can do. (I can’t wait til after the wedding so I can cut 3 more inches off!)
+ craving: Panera Bread.
+ seeing: A messy desk. I must clean it before I leave today.
+ wishing: The next 36 days would go without incident. Let’s go, Wedding Day!

March 19, 2013

I am allowed.

IMG_5336I am allowed to have weak moments and cry for no reason.
I am allowed to be happy too.
I am allowed to lazy and hang out in my PJs all day.
I am allowed to want.
I am allowed to allowed to be angry.
I am allowed to feel beautiful.
I am allowed to hold big dreams in the palms of my hands & not know what to do with them.
I am allowed to change, if the changes are for the good.
I am allowed to allowed to display my inner nerd at times.
I am allowed to make my own decisions.
I am allowed to be by myself in the quiet for a while.
I am allowed to feel worthy.
I am allowed to love. And be loved. With all of my heart.

life in squares: disney, oklahoma

This weekend we rode down to Oklahoma to hit the Big Meats Run in Disney, Oklahoma. It was fun. It was scary. It was bumpy and exciting.

We arrived on Friday night and decided to do a little bit of night riding before heading in to sleep. Not even 30 minutes later, we were calling 911 for Shawn, who flipped his RZR and knocked himself out. Cold. Limp. Scary. After a trip to the ER, x-rays and 4 stitches just under his right eyebrow, he was fine, just sore. It definitely shook everyone up, and it made us all more aware of our harnesses and helmets. There’s no such thing as too cautious, I guess.

Saturday was packed full of people. I’ve never seen so many people in one place watching others ride. I would easily say there were over 1,000 RZRs, Wildcats, Jeeps, ATVs, and buggies there. Kelly rolled his RZR on the same hill that Shawn did, and later that day, JD did too. They both were fine and kept riding (after fixing a few things anyway).

Travis has some videos posted on his YouTube channel. Check it out.

Already looking forward to next year.

weight gain progress.

I’m doing it. I’m finally gaining the weight that I’ve been trying to. I have been using an app to track my calories, and I’ve been stuffing my face with everything in sight. A lot of bread and fruit snacks at work (those little suckers have calories!). Muscle Milk. Avocados. Peanuts.

But it’s working. Such a good feeling.

I can’t really see any change in my body besides that my thighs look a tiny bit meatier. And that is A-okay with me. I’m going to take it and keep going.

Here’s to 5 more pounds before the wedding!

March 1, 2013

hello March.

March is going to be a good month. March is going to be exciting and, like I said yesterday, is going to probably fly by.
Looking forward to:

+ Disney, Oklahoma for some UTV riding.
+ Bridal shower.
+ Getting RSVPs back.
+ Getting my dress fitted.
+ Ordering custom Converse.

February 28, 2013

goodbye February.

February flew by. I can’t believe that tomorrow will be March, and so quickly after that, April. It seems that as I get older, the time seems to go faster, life gets busier, and I am taking less time to soak things in. March will be no different, I know.

+ Watching Greg speak in Atchison
+ Designing bridal shower invites
+ Reading Death Comes to Pemberley
+ Blueberry Tea
+ Ordering pounds of yellow candy
+ Purging scrapbook supplies
+ Selling my old DSLR
+ Selling print quotes in my Etsy shop
+ Watching 4 seasons of Breaking Bad
+ New AirMax Nikes
+ Picking up my wedding dress
+ Finally using the yellow washi I love
+ Sending wedding invitations
+ Registering for the wedding

February 21, 2013

snow day.

listening to: The Civil Wars. I cannot get enough.
wishing: 6 weeks would fly by so my sister was back at work with me.
drinking: warm blueberry tea.
eating: gummy fruit snacks.
wearing: pajamas. Snow day = comfy clothes day.
reading: Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James.
enjoying: a lazy day off of work. It’s the good thing about deep snow. the only good thing.
loving: ranunculus (such pretty paper-looking flowers).
wanting: ice cream. Weird since it is so cold.
working on: wedding invites. Almost completely done. Seems like this process has taken a lot more time than I imagined.
admiring: how tough and resilient my sister is. She must take after me.

February 8, 2013

life is rolling.

Oh, it’s been busy lately. Work has been crazy (thanks to month-end reports and safety orientations and respiratory training) and the wedding planning has gone from busy to overload. But, I think it’s under control too. How that works I don’t know. It’s gonna be great. 78 days.

To add worry to busy, I burned my arm on the stove while trying to cook macaroni and cheese. Sigh. Macaroni and cheese. Not just a little red mark or a blister either, a full-out skin-peeled-off 2nd degree burn. My doctor even said so. I can’t feel it because it’s in that weird zone, where my injury masks any feeling, temperature or pain. I can’t feel it. It looks bad, so I know it hurts. The prescription is working, and it is already looking better.

TODAY: I am looking forward to the weekend. Hanging with the gang and maybe some Wildcat riding to get the adrenaline going. And probably some wedding invitation prepping. It’s gonna be a good one. Loves!

February 4, 2013

day in the life: january 31

This was my first ever attempt at Day in the Life, and I have to admit that it made me realize just how boring my weekday routine has become. Boring and exhausting and lacking of ambition somehow. I am looking forward to changing that in the coming months, when married life brings new things to do on a daily basis.

Here are a few pictures from the day:

February 3, 2013

today I am.

loving: How happy I am. It’s been an incredible week, and I am just happy.
reading: Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle LaPorte.
listening to: Gary Allan on Spotify. I love Spotify.
eating: nothing. I need to go to the store and stock up on avocadoes. Looking for more weight gain this week.
drinking: water. Tons of it. I am feeling slightly dehydrated for some reason.
planning: registry lists.
missing: my boy an incredible amount.
enjoying: hearing the little girls in the next room play games on my iPad.
craving: tea. I really want some good flavored tea.
seeing: a mess of pictures and wedding decor stuff.
wishing: next weekend was here. It’s going to be a long week at work.

January 31, 2013

goodbye January.

January was busy, much busier than most normal months, and those seem to be busy enough. I managed to get a lot of the loose ends of the wedding squared away, and I also managed to get some time to myself. It was great all around.

Favorites of January:

+ cinnamon roll coffee
+ wedding planning
+ sleeping til 11 on Sundays
+ babysitting for the tiny ones
+ playing Hedbandz with Darcy and Jeremy and Greg
+ new Moleskine
+ spending time with my camera (I needed that)
+ blog planning
+ having a good audit
+ photos with Greg
+ gaining a few pounds
+ new clothes
+ lace

January 28, 2013

Life has been crazy busy. While I’ve been living and breathing wedding planning, I’m trying to get used to driving this new chair, which is easier said than done. It’s a few inches wider than my other one, and it screws me up. I had crashed more than once into door jams. Woops.

I’m getting super serious about gaining weight (again) too. I bought some good protein drinks, plus a lot of stuff to eat throughout the day. Not necessarily bad stuff, avocados and pasta mostly. And ice cream. Mmhmm.

January 7, 2013

this week.

IMG_3334It’s audit week, which means I’ll be quiet. And stressed and working weird hours. Our audit isn’t really the normal audit that everyone thinks of. It has nothing to do with money or accounting. Our audit at work deals with ISO. Job procedures and records and keeping track of the right information that customers might ask for later.

My part of the job deals with keeping it all up to date and organized and available when requested. Documents need to be reviewed every year, signed, and put into books for production guys to find. Training records need to be checked for completion. Internal audits will be looked at. Plus more. It’s a long process to go through, and though we work hard throughout the year to keep it in order, it’s always a scramble to the finish line before the audit.

This year, I am both stressed and strangely calm at the same time. We have gotten a lot done and caught up, but Mandy has been sick, and she’s my right hand when it comes to audits. Our manager, Dave, has been out on vacation and now sick since before Christmas. I hope it all falls into place. If not, we’ll be fine and fix whatever problems the auditor finds (it’s a new guy this year, sigh).

I’ll gladly welcome a good slow day at work and good night’s sleep at the end of this week.

2013 goals.

Considering that this year is going to be busy (I’m tired already) and stressful (My hair might turn gray), I am making goals that are easier to achieve than goals of years past. In fact, that’s half the reason I made no goals last year. It felt great, but I also missed knowing that I had a list in front of me of things that I wanted to accomplish. 2013 is just going to be simple on goals – not outrageously long or hard, but achievable and markable. I’ll keep track of them here (of course).

And they are:

+ more pictures with Greg (at least one a month! We are so hit & miss at remembering to get us together)
+ steady savings on money (no extra spending on ANYTHING unessential)
+ journal 3x per week
+ get 3 paid photo sessions
+ read 10 (or more) books
+ phase out of Facebook
+ send snail mail at least once per week (does not include bills)
+ 3 DIY projects from Pinterest
+ instagram once per day (minimum)
+ have a house built (duh)
+ go bowling
+ visit 2 different states
+ learn to crochet something with a pattern

December 31, 2012

goodbye 2012.

You were good to me. You had some rough patches and sad days and you took a few swipes at our strength, but you taught us things that otherwise we wouldn’t have learned and made us appreciate things we wouldn’t have appreciated. You made us look around and think “Yes, I can do this.”

Favorite things about 2012:
+ Project Life
+ Engagement
+ Lake weekends
+ Colorado
+ Arctic Cat
+ Quiet days of writing
+ Love

Looking forward to 2013!

December 18, 2012

december daily: update 2.

This is fun, and a welcomed change of pace from Project Life, which I’ll be honest about. I’m getting a little burnt out on. It is becoming more of a chore as the year comes to a close. While I want to document all of 2013 because there are big changes coming, I don’t know that I have it in me.

Anyway, DD. I am loving it still, and while I’m not doing every single day, I am getting the important stuff in there. It doesn’t all have to do with Christmas or the holidays, and that’s okay with me. My whole month of December doesn’t normally revolve around those things anyway.

Looking forward to the next 2 weeks of loveliness for this book.

December 15, 2012

life is squares: road trip to craig.

Mom and I took a short road trip last week back to Craig Hospital in Denver to pick up my new power chair, and it was, in one word, exhausting. We drove all day Tuesday, had appointments and chair evaluations all day Wednesday and Thursday morning, then headed back home. The chair is similar to the one I currently have, with a few differences. The main one is the width. It’s a few inches wider, and it might pose a few problems with doorways and such. Ugh, I hope not.

I am excited about ordering a new manual wheelchair though. I’ve never had a manual chair that actually fits me. Believe me, it makes a huge difference on pushing around your body weight when something is set up the way it should be. I’ll be getting a TiLite Aero Z chair, in flat black. I could have gone with pretty and flashy colors, but really, that isn’t me. The black is good–and flat black is even better. It should be here around March, I’m guessing.

I had never been to Craig Hospital around Christmas. It’s almost always warm when we plan our trips, so seeing snow and Christmas lights was a welcome sight. So pretty. As good as it was to see a few of my favorite people there, I was more than happy to come home. I wanted to be close to home, to my family, to Greg. Craig always makes me appreciate how far life has progressed since I was a newly injured patient, and it always makes me want to soak the goodness in my life so much more.

With that quick visit and the horrible things that have happened to those children in Connecticut, it makes you want to hold the good things close.

December 13, 2012

today I know

+ I need to be stronger sometimes. I get too emotional.

+ Stress is not a good look for me, or the bags under my eyes.

+ February 18 is going to be a rough day. Darcy will be having surgery, and I’ll be right there.

+ Dreaming of my dress all day might not be productive, but I can’t help it. Lace
Love. Wedding!

+ I need a break. The day to myself, for sure. That won’t happen until well into January, I’m sure.

+ I cannot wait to be back home.
