life in squares: disney, oklahoma

mosaic972c915f1f470e4136ec67c0e7e215fafa99afb8
This weekend we rode down to Oklahoma to hit the Big Meats Run in Disney, Oklahoma. It was fun. It was scary. It was bumpy and exciting.

We arrived on Friday night and decided to do a little bit of night riding before heading in to sleep. Not even 30 minutes later, we were calling 911 for Shawn, who flipped his RZR and knocked himself out. Cold. Limp. Scary. After a trip to the ER, x-rays and 4 stitches just under his right eyebrow, he was fine, just sore. It definitely shook everyone up, and it made us all more aware of our harnesses and helmets. There’s no such thing as too cautious, I guess.

Saturday was packed full of people. I’ve never seen so many people in one place watching others ride. I would easily say there were over 1,000 RZRs, Wildcats, Jeeps, ATVs, and buggies there. Kelly rolled his RZR on the same hill that Shawn did, and later that day, JD did too. They both were fine and kept riding (after fixing a few things anyway).

Travis has some videos posted on his YouTube channel. Check it out.

Already looking forward to next year.

12 on 12: march.

mosaic66d2ae1172e4529171be3c5173dc4daabdf1665eI first saw the 12 on 12 on Dear Lizzy’s blog, and of course, what’s a better excuse to snap random photos of my day without any pressure? Such a good idea. Good job, Lizzy girl.

Yesterday was a good day. My new manual wheelchair finally arrived, and it fits like a dream. Much, much, much better than my old manual chair. Probably because it is 4 inches narrower and has wheels that work well with my hands. Anyone who uses a wheelchair for daily living can understand just how important it is to be both comfortable and functional in your chair. While I do have to get used to this chair, I think it is going to work well for me. *fingers crossed*

Work was pretty normal. Nothing new there.

I had dinner with Maria, and we discussed all the things that best friends discuss. Our relationships, work, my wedding, her schooling, just life in general. We both needed a good girl dinner, I think.

I managed to get some Project Life time in after dinner. Another stress-reliever. I am really liking the one-side-of-a-spread-per-week format that I have been using. It takes so much pressure off of me to “fill up” the pockets with things that do not really matter or need to be shown. Plus I can use more inserts, which I love. Especially coin pocket inserts. Who knew 2×2 photos could be so cute?

I am thinking that 12 on 12 will be a monthly thing for me. It was such fun this time, and a good alternative to Day in the Life, which for some odd, unknown reason sort of overwhelms me.

Ah, life.

goodbye February.

mosaicbf9587c05886d807b253269e9329e213d4cf4842
February flew by. I can’t believe that tomorrow will be March, and so quickly after that, April. It seems that as I get older, the time seems to go faster, life gets busier, and I am taking less time to soak things in. March will be no different, I know.

FAVORITES OF FEBRUARY:
+ Watching Greg speak in Atchison
+ Designing bridal shower invites
+ Reading Death Comes to Pemberley
+ Blueberry Tea
+ Ordering pounds of yellow candy
+ Purging scrapbook supplies
+ Selling my old DSLR
+ Selling print quotes in my Etsy shop
+ Watching 4 seasons of Breaking Bad
+ New AirMax Nikes
+ Picking up my wedding dress
+ Finally using the yellow washi I love
+ Sending wedding invitations
+ Registering for the wedding

Instagram is still my favorite. I know a lot of people have signed up for Vine, which is similar to Instagram, but in video form. I haven’t jumped on the wagon yet, and I probably won’t in the near future. I don’t have time for any more apps! I already check FB, Instagram, Twitter, and Flickr. I am trying my best to spend as little time off and away from my phone, not add more, even if it’s in short 6-second clips. Life is much simpler without the distraction.

sigh.

We survived the audit. Survived and did better than expected (in my mind anyway). This past year was full of changes and additions to my job. I took on tracking energy consumption. When the Safety Manager was fired, I took over a good chunk of safety tracking, and it all slowed me down on quality issues. So I was nervous that I might have missed something really important along the way.

But he didn’t find it, if I did.

I can breathe again. (And get cracking on this wedding.)

So this weekend is about taking it easy and hanging with my boy, who I must say is very supportive when he knows I am stressed. Another reason to love him to bits.

life in squares: on the farm

mosaic3d5f9b2eda51c38225048bd6aadba6e525e9d6bcWe spent our Sunday afternoon at Tim’s house for Caleb and Payden’s birthday party, and then for some gun-shooting down by the pond (or mud puddle as it should be called lately). We always have such fun times when we’re shooting. Laughing and cutting up with each other. I love it. And I’m getting pretty good at shooting too.

Since winter is coming, there won’t be many more shooting sessions this year, unless the weather stays crazy weird and warm like it has been. I mean, 70s in December? I don’t get it.

life in squares.

1.  Our RSVPs for the wedding. Bright and simple, but still elegant too. I love the way they turned out.

2.  Self portrait at work after a big lunch and exhausting morning.

3.  Riding on the old lake bed. Fun and bumpy.

4.  Lists have been dominating my life lately, it seems. And none of them are really getting checked off as they should be. I guess I’m in a little bit of a rut.

life in squares.

1. This kid is crazy. Tattoos on her face, arms, belly. She had a good time at Aunt Arlene’s birthday party, that’s for sure.

2. Fall is here. Beautiful trees, the smell of dry, dusty leaves, and orange pumpkins everywhere. I love it.

3. I am finishing Blog, Inc by Joy Cho. Such a good informative book.

4. Christmas cards are designed, and I am impatient to start printing and assembling them. Just a tad early, I know.

project life : week 30

I love Project Life. No lie.

It’s still so easy and fun looking at the week’s events in such a different way. A way that documents every little thing that has happened..

I’ve been using a lot of Instagram pictures, so most of my last 2-3 layouts have seemed to contain a lot of yellows and dusty filtered colors. That’s fine with me, but for next week, I am hoping to get away from that.

life.

I’ve been horrible at blogging. Horrible!

You know when you don’t think life could possibly get any busier and your body couldn’t be any more worn out? Well, it can be busier and you can get worn even further. I tend to jinx myself with things like that.

We’ve been spending a lot of time on the boat, and the color of my skin shows it. I’m getting so dark (and my white legs are a little bit red). It’s fun, and with the 100 to 105° weather every single day for the past few weeks, the lake is welcoming.

I can’t promise I’ll be better at blogging, but I do promise to try.

July 20, 2012

weekend plans.

+ hang out with my G. Maybe on the boat?
+ read The Night Circus.
+ stay cool. This heat is beyond ridiculous.
+ get blog posts ready for the week.
+ Script School. More about it later.
+ baby my wheelchair. The stress over this thing is overwhelming me.
+ design a print form for an upcoming team shoot.

Oh, Friday!

20120705-204807.jpg
I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July. I know we did. Tuesday night I went to Greg’s sister’s house and watched the Turner fireworks with his family. They are so fun and easy to be around. On Wednesday, we had a family get together at my brother’s house and lit fireworks and ate good food. I will post more pictures from yesterday’s festivities when I get time.

Today: I am working on what feels like a Tuesday. And then I’m catching up on blogs and cards after work. I’ll post pictures of the new cards I have soon, but they won’t be up in the shop for a little while. I also ordered three more new stamps. I’m on this kick of designing stamps and using them in my projects. Not that I don’t love everyone else’s stamps (because if I had tons of money to spend, that’s probably what I would spend it on), but I just like the feeling of making my own. I’ll get pics of those as soon as I get them.

May 25, 2012

tiny thoughts today.

+ Happy 5th birthday to Miss Makinna. I can’t believe how time has flown so fast.

+ April 27 looks like it will be THE DAY. Now to find THE PLACE.

+ Lake weekend with my boy. Hoping for a lot of fun and a little bit of color.

May 17, 2012

thoughts.

+ I haven’t had much poetry up lately, but be looking for some soon. There are really only so many ways to say that I am blissfully happy.

+ This rest of this week/weekend are going to be so crazy busy. Graduations galore. I am tired already, just thinking about it.

+ Work has been better. People have backed off, and I have learned to not take on more than I am being paid to do.

+ I am ready for just one night of sleep without a nightmare. Does this happen often when people are slightly stressed or have a major life happening? I could really go for a good dream.

+ No wedding date set yet, but since my cousin Brooke is getting married March 16, 2013, I am guessing we’ll go for April sometime. <3 Don't worry, this blog will be up on all the plans as they go.

+ p.s. I’m sorry in advance for all the lovey dovey crazy happy posts that are sure to be in the future. :)

Atlanta.

Finally, I am getting around to this.

Mandy and I left Thursday morning and came home on Friday afternoon/evening. It went pretty smoothly considering it was my first time flying. Except for the guy who sat next to us on the plane. I don’t know what was wrong with him, but he had some sort of seizure early into out flight Thursday. Scariest thing I have ever seen. He seized then just went limp, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t breathing for about 10 seconds. Then he just woke up, like nothing had happened. Scary, scary, scary.

We did an audit that afternoon, and Sarah and some of the girls from the office took us out to dinner at Atkin’s Park Tavern. Soooo good. I had my first fried green tomato, and I could have eaten about 12 more. We laughed and told stories and made good friends with people who were before, just coworkers.

Friday was fast. We worked clear up until the time that the transportation van came to take us back to the airport.

It was a quick trip, but next time our boss has agreed to let us go for an extra night. Mostly because we were exhausted, and we want to see the aquarium. Sometimes he does spoil us.

home sweet home.

I went to Atlanta on my very first plane ride. And I made it home safely.

More to come, but mostly I wanted to share the picture above. Isn’t it gorgeous?

April 29, 2012

weekend recap.

+ My Friday nights are becoming predictable. TV and then going to bed early. Is this what becoming an adult is like?

+ Greg and I went to Mount Vernon, MO to see Angel, who was injured in April. Our first little road trip together. 6 hours both ways and somehow we were still getting along when we got back. haha. ;) It was a good trip. Angel seems to be doing really well and is one of those people who you can tell will be just fine. Paralysis doesn’t have to be the end of it all.

+ St. Louis got hammered with hail, and Greg is heading out tomorrow for work there. It will be odd to not see him for an entire week. Thankfully, it’s only 4 hours away and not 10 hours or something crazy like that. <3

+ Rain, rain, and more rain. It's dreary and tiring. I need a nap.

April 27, 2012

the day after.

Yesterday wasn’t bad. It wasn’t particularly hard.

It was just another day that happened to be April 26.

And I couldn’t be happier that not one tear fell.

March 11, 2012

weekend in pictures.

I can honestly say I haven’t had so much fun in a long time. <3

March 8, 2012

so smooth.

I did it. I finally broke down and bought an iPhone 4s. Okay, “broke down” gives the impression that I was resistant to the idea of having one when really I drooled over the iPhone from the very beginning. Sprint just didn’t have it until recently, and my upgrade wasn’t due for months and months when it was released.

All that matters is that it is mine now. (So what if I paid a little bit extra to hurry my upgrade up by 2 months!)

Favorite thing #1: It syncs with my iPad & iMac. Life (and organization) just got a whole lot easier.

Favorite thing #2: FaceTime. Greg goes to Indianapolis for who-knows-how-long for work on Monday, and this is probably going to get a lot of use.

Favorite thing #3: Instagram. Like Twitter, with pictures. And filters. And friends. So fun. I even got Darcy into it.

Least favorite thing: I don’t want to scratch it or drop it or even touch it because it is so beautiful, I want to keep it perfect.
