june goals.

I was writing in my journal today and realized I haven’t posted my goals for this month. It’s been a little hectic around here lately, with so many good and bad things going on. Anyway, I’ve already accomplished a few of these, or am very close. I hope June decides to stay sunny.

+ Find a place for the wedding.
+ Get trailer off the land.
+ Design a new business card.
+ Take lunch to work 4 out of 5 days each week.
+ Catch up on ISO at work.
+ Relax.

easy vs hard

Kal B. never ceases to amaze me. Seriously, this woman is kick ass and talented and can make you want to laugh and cry and paint something all at the same time.

Her Easy vs Hard post last week made me open my eyes to a few things, and of course, I love a good list. It made me reevaluate goals and be grateful and think about where I am going. Who know making a lil ole list could do all that, right?

Here’s mine:

EASY: falling out of my wheelchair
HARD: healing up sprains from bracing that fall

EASY: getting distracted from cleaning my messy office at work
HARD: finding that one piece of paper in a stack of papers that all look the same

EASY: wanting stuff of my wish list
HARD: saving money instead of spending money on my wish list

EASY: seeing a paycheck
HARD: waking up to go to work

EASY: loving/spoiling my nieces and nephews
HARD: watching them be hurt/scared

EASY: giving advice
HARD: accepting advice

EASY: drinking one too many beers
HARD: waking up on 3 hours of sleep after beer night

EASY: writing how I feel
HARD: saying how I feel

EASY: being a grump
HARD: not taking it out on anyone who doesn’t deserve it

+ Life seems to get busier by the day. It’s sort of crazy how time is flying by…so often I think “holy crap! I’m really 26!”

+ Nothing seems so bad when I am listening to a Disney song. Really, how do they do that!? (Oo-de-lally is my fav.)

+ If dried cranberries had more calories, I’d have no problem gaining and keeping weight. I love those things.

+ I’ve had a really hard time sleeping lately. And when I do, I have nightmares. Weird ones. If it’s stress, let’s hope things slow down soon!

+ I used to take pretty pictures and then put pretty words with them, inspired by them. I have sort of fallen off that train, and I need to get another ticket.

+ I need just 5 minutes to myself.
+ I need rain. I’m gonna get that wish.
+ I need to keep my head above water.
+ I need life to slow down. I feel like I am lost appreciation–or even the time to appreciate–the things and people I should.
+ I need to figure out how I never saw a Jessica + Ronnie coming. Two of my best friends in love. It really makes sense. It probably should have happened years ago.
+ I need a big tall beer.

+ The Hunger Games is an insanely good book. I think that it is the fastest I have read a book in the past 2 years. I started book 2 of the series, Catching Fire, last night, and it’s going to be good too.

+ Work was both good and frustrating this week. Both are long stories, and since it’s Friday, I don’t feel like discussing it.

+ Hoping to have a play date with my camera this weekend. I miss it. :-/

+ iPad is on its way soon. I don’t even think I can say how excited I am.

+ I’m finishing up the family reunion invites soon (which have changed a little bit), so I suppose I’ll write about them again. Be on the lookout (or don’t. Whatever).

+ I have this good feeling inside that someone is thinking of me, and it is pretty nice.

+ Yes, I am that girl that dances alone in the car next to you at the stoplight.

+ I spent much of last week leading up to Friday dreading all the news coverage of the Royal Wedding (it really does deserve caps), but I actually enjoyed it. It turned out much better than I expected. She looked beautiful. He looked…balding. But together, they looked perfectly adorable.

+ Peter Seller’s “A Right Bird.” Totally funny. Google it. (Thanks Ryan)

+ I’m kind of quiet lately because I’m too tired to think of anything to say. It’s just been one of those weeks.

+ Little Miss Serenity is having another scope in June to see what they can do about her throat. They’ll either put a gel insert in or do laser surgery at a later date, depending on how things go. I hope it’s easy for her, but something tells me that even if it isn’t, she’ll be okay. She’s a tough little girl (like Aunt Carrie, duh).

+ Our neighbors are nuts. End of story.

+ I never got into the Farmville thing on Facebook. I thought it was stupid, but Papaya Farm on Android? Psh, It’s fun stealing my brother’s corn or my nephew’s hens from his ranch.

+ Self-tanner makes me smell like you’re sweating. It’s not really appealing, but it works. I’m darker than I was 2 days ago. And no skin cancer. :)

May goals.

+ figure out loan/house options. It could be a long process.
+ blog every day. That may not happen, but hey, who knows.
+ Power and Light.
+ bake cookies for work.
+ get a tan–even if it’s a small one, or comes from a bottle. No cancer for me.
+ shoot a roll of film.
+ finish Water for Elephants (again).

30 days of lists wrap up.

This was a fun little project. Something that barely took 5 minutes of my time after work each day, making it easy to keep up with and easy to finish.

I used transparencies for each page and then a colored page of cardstock underneath to set it off. If you don’t look closely, it looks as if the words are actually written on the colored paper.

Below are a few of my pages. I doubt you want to see all 30. You might get bored.

July 28, 2010

5. Total complete happiness.

5 reasons to stop myself:

January 20, 2010

I found this on my facebook, and even though it was written over a year ago, all these things are still applicable to my life. Love it.

1. I have green eyes, and I love it.
2. I find it annoying when I see “your” and “you’re” mistakes.
3. Candles are almost always burning in my room. I like to switch up the scents, but anything fruity is usually good.
4. My regularly-read books (mostly poetry) are sitting on my desk at all times.
5. I try as hard as I can to leave a good impression.
6. Dr. Pepper, Post-Its, and Chapstick are my only addictions.
7. I critique the Sunday ads on their design; and most of them aren’t up to my standards. I always find things that could be better.
8. I am always looking for the next best thing to come along.
9. Graduate school sounds good sometimes; at other times, I dread more homework. So I’m procrastinating that decision.
10. I am very good at appearing busy, even when I’m bored out of my mind.
11. My nails look better painted. And I wore dark nail polish even before it was popular. So there.
12. I am somewhat of an impulsive shopper.
13. Being tall isn’t much of an advantage for me anymore.
14. I love working at TSCPL in Comm/Marketing. Seriously, it’s like my dream job right now. (It was, anyway.)
15. I don’t like the way that anyone else makes macaroni and cheese.
16. I love Flickr. I’m regularly inspired there and am learning so much more than I thought.
17. My latest journal is only 31 days old and already almost full. I write, a lot.
18. I miss having a dog. I miss my Rusty and Roxy.
19. I used to collect ink pens, and I had almost every color of gel pen you could think of. Now I just use black ballpoint ones.
20. My handwriting used to be pretty, but now it looks like chicken scratch….there’s no time for pretty anymore.
21. I love my nieces and nephews more than anything. I spoil them too much probably.
22. I like to paint, even though I pretty much suck at making anything look realistic.
23. I remember what it feels like to walk. It’s a weird feeling.
24. Summertime rain is my favorite kind of rain. Just not too much of it.
25. I am not the type of girl who you tell to do something. It won’t get you anywhere. Just ask me nicely.
