all i know is that i should…

I cannot get over how much I love this song. I first heard it so long ago, and it’s been in regular rotation since. I can’t love it any more than I already do, and it couldn’t describe me any better.

nobody said it was easy.

I heard this song the other day for the first time in a while, and it reminded me of so many good times. I love this acoustic version especially.

serenade.

You strummed those strings
with your little piece of plastic
and sang words
I’d never heard together before
from your short wooden stool
set atop the stage.
Your voice–
it was pure magic
coming through that mic.

You couldn’t see me
in the dimly lit corner–
but I was there
among the silent and equally awed.

I was there
soaking up every sound
and every caress you gave
that guitar,
trying to figure out
how I had gone so long
without seeing
just how beautiful you are.

oh, that voice.

Seriously, she could put me to sleep with her voice.

so summer.

This video just makes me crave heat and humidity and fun and tans. Oh, I love summer.

heartbreak warfare.

Who doesn’t need a little John Mayer in their life? Well, his music anyway.

Waiting.

At a forum where I frequent, although it is less and less these days, a friend started a thread about sad songs. And even though the video here doesn’t particularly make me cry, it resonates with me tonight. Every single line fits me somehow. Plus I love City & Colour too much. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song of his that I didn’t like.

Hippin’ and hoppin’.

I am in such a good mood at the moment for absolutely no reason other than I can be (even though there has been a few stressful things going on, but I’ll go into that tomorrow).  The weather was beautiful today.  My bio professor gave us a take-home test over material I don’t really care to have a real test over to save “precious class time.”  Lupe Fiasco is filling my ears and making me shake what I can.  And I am very much looking forward to this weekend.  All homework WILL be done, and partying will be happening (okay, I know I said I was calming down but it’s Lindley and Aaron’s LAST weekend at the apartment!).

I only hope this keeps up all week.

Espanol.

Occasionally while listening to my iPod, a song of Shakira’s will play. Now, please understand that even with over 12,000 songs, a Spanish song definitely sticks out. I have to thank my high school Spanish teacher for igniting my love for Spanish music and encouraging us to learn it, even if we didn’t always understand the meanings and translations.

The one I am listening to right now “Que Me Queres Tu” I can understand (and actually sing the entire song). It’s been a long time since I last heard it, and still I know the words.

I should get back into Spanish again. I haven’t totally lost it, but without Tomasa, my favorite little Spanish speaker, it will be different.
