project life update.

Another quick Project Life post, as I am trying to keep up. We basically went from one stressful planning event to another, buying a house. But in the end, it is going to be more than worth it. We are excited and anxious and ready for it to be ours. Personally, I am waiting for something to come up that snatches it away from us. It seems like something always trips up our big plans, right?

project life.

So even with everything that has been going on, I have managed to fill the pockets every week for Project Life. Not so many words, mostly pictures. But that is totally fine with me. I suppose there aren’t many words to say anyway.

project life update

I have been bad at documenting my Project Life this year so, haven’t I? If it wasn’t so super busy, I might be a little more caught up on here, but at the time, I am doing my best.

I still love this project, even though it can be a bit daunting to stay caught up. The two weeks per spread is still working well for that, and I have been able to incorporate versatile inserts still. Love that part.IMG_5602

My PL is mostly photo-heavy, as you can see, but I do like to add simple embellishments too. I am loving the Amy Tangerine thickers, mainly because I can make them any color I want with a little bit of nail polish. Crafty stuff, that nail polish is.IMG_5603

I did add more journaling for a few weeks though too. I love printing my journaling, rather than handwriting it. I can fit so much more.IMG_5604

I used a coin sleeve for the insert below. I cut down to a 3-row page and just stuck random things in that fit the week.IMG_5605

I managed to survive this crazybus week with nothing more thanĀ a few hours less sleep. I got my new manual chair and plan a mini-shopping excursion in KC before we headed out for Oklahoma. That Friday was a good day (besides Sean knocking himself out. That part I could have done without).IMG_5608

Insert from our weekend at Big Meats Run 2013. Love.IMG_5609

And the back of the insert.IMG_5610

This past week was supposed to be about relaxing, but it turned out to be busy too. And that’s okay. The next month of my life will probably have no no NO relaxing. At some point, I might get used to it.IMG_5611

project life 2013.

I went back and forth on whether I wanted to keep a Project Life this year. Considering I knew that it would be a crazy, busy, and most likely emotional year, I wasn’t sure if I had the time or motivation to keep up with it again.

But of course, I decided to do it. I don’t want to look back and regret not documenting the year of our marriage and moving and who knows what else. I don’t want to not have those pictures and stories available for our children one day.

I am doing it differently though. Last year, I did the standard one week per spread. It was not particularly hard to find pictures to slip into the pockets, but it was daunting sometimes to make sure that each week was not just a rush of photos and no journaling. I tried not to get behind, and each Sunday, I would print and embellish. And it was all in a hurry.

This year, I am doing 2 weeks per spread. One week on each side of the page protector. More important events will get their own insert, so I am expecting more of those. But that’s okay because inserts happen to be a favorite of mine. I don’t have to choose only 1 or 2 photos to put into the weekly spread, but 6 to 8 so that the event can be documented in its entirety.

It’s working well so far. Less pressure and more time to journal. And I am loving the wood veneer letters still too. They have so much character to them.

Hopefully I can keep up with posting updates here too.

upcoming.

I’ve never done a craft show before. Not that the thought hasn’t crossed my mind many time, but I never really got enough umph to actually do it. But Sandra and I have decided to go ahead and participate in Berryton’s craft show. Since that is where we’ll be residing soon and our kids will eventually go to school, I like the idea of getting to know the community and the people. December 8!

I’ll be selling my cards, stamps, and small mini books. I have been printing, folding, assembling and visualizing how I want things to look. It’s getting closer, and I am almost positive I’ll be ready far ahead of time. Exciting.

Sandra will be selling her crochet goods. Super cute hats, baby booties, and baby cocoon outfits. Check them out on her Etsy shop, Five Kids and a Cow. So cute.

Looking forward to the fun.

project life: week 42

So much was down this week. That to-do list managed to dwindle down, and I could not be happier.

Only 10 weeks left to document in this year!

project life: week 37

Still fun. Still easy.

I still really love this project even though I have sort of wrapped myself up in SMASHbooks lately. It’s just a different kind of thing for me. More organized (which I love) and simpler for me too.

project life : week 30

I love Project Life. No lie.

It’s still so easy and fun looking at the week’s events in such a different way. A way that documents every little thing that has happened..

I’ve been using a lot of Instagram pictures, so most of my last 2-3 layouts have seemed to contain a lot of yellows and dusty filtered colors. That’s fine with me, but for next week, I am hoping to get away from that.

project life.

While I have been keeping up on my Project Life (I think if I were to get behind, I would drown and give up on it), I haven’t been good at keeping up on blogging about it. Bad Carrie.

I won’t go through the past 2 weeks because most of it has been on the blog anyway. I don’t want to bore you too much.

I’m sure any of you who do PL know what I’m talking about. Sometimes the pictures do the whole thing justice. No words needs.

project life: week 21.

This project still is fun, and for someone who gets bored easily with most things, that’s out of the ordinary for me. I still love taking pictures (that never gets boring) and pretty-ing them up. I still love the ease of documenting life in a creative way and capturing more than ever before. I don’t think there is anything that I will regret about it.

I am getting better at it too. I think about pictures I know I’ll want. I have been putting together inserts more often because I hate picking and choosing and leaving pictures out. I journal the little things I want to remember.

Week 22, here I come.

project life: week 18.

Week 18 was a fun one for obvious reasons. Atlanta, engagement, life.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

April 15, 2012

project life: week 15

I had fun this week, even though it flew by again so fast. My head is still spinning.

I have been printing my pictures at home, which makes this project even more fun for me. I don’t have to wait on Walgreens (even an hour seems like a long time when you want them done now), and I can play with sizes, etc.

I have also been using more iPhone pictures. The convenience of having a decently good camera at my fingertips all the time has made the amount of picture I have double in size. Variety is hardly ever a bad thing, and I can always include them somewhere. This week I put in an insert with those extra random pictures from this week (and a few from last week) because they are just too much not to include.

project life: week 13

This week was so much fun. Between being super busy (again), it was full of laughs and smiles and teeny tiny squeals.

Greg and I took Caleb and Kendall to Legends to the T-Rex restaurant, and it was awesome. I had never been there, and it is really a beautiful place. Good food. A LOT of food. Greg and I couldn’t finish all of ours. We’ll go back someday, I’m sure.

KU won in the Final Four against Ohio State (but lost in the Championship (sad face!)). I am still proud and still have red and blue on today though.

Mark took Tink and Makinna fishing at the ponds. They caught a few and were a little unsure of them.

This week was one of my favorites. It was easy. It was fun. It took me about an hour to put these pages together, which makes it fantastic.

March 13, 2012

project life: week 10

I’ve mentioned Project Life a few times here, but mostly on my Twitter. It’s a fun, easy little “Scrapbooky” way to keep track of everyday life. The pocket pages are just the right size for 4 x 6 pictures and 3 x 4 notes. I love it.

And it gives me a little bit of push to document the days. I don’t want to regret not documenting them someday.

I can’t promise that I will keep up with a blog for every week of the Project, but I do promise to try.

This week was a fun one because it was full of stuff. I managed to get a lot of pictures. Actually far more than any other week, but I wanted lots of pattern this week because it sort of shows the busy-ness.

Onto week 11!

February 11, 2012

project life.

I almost missed out on this project this year. Not because I wanted to, but mostly because time sort of just passed too fast, and I couldn’t get a hold on it. The past few months have been some of the craziest, busiest, and happiest of my entire life. They have showed me that life can go from just okay, mediocre really, to fantastic in such a short amount of time that even I can’t realize what is happening until one day I woke up and could breathe.

And I want to remember them for-ev-er.

Maybe February isn’t too late to get started. Maybe I could catch up a week at a time. I have pictures galore, and I just have to make up for lost time. As soon as I do, I’ll get pictures posted.

p.s. I’m letting this project take over the 26 SMASH book I started in August. As much as painting and having a pretty mess when I get done with a page, it’s too time consuming. It became more of a hassle to keep up with, and that is never fun.
